Skills
I’m an experienced user interaction and visual designer. I have more than ten years of experience creating complex web sites. I’ve worked in leadership roles and supporting roles, and I’ve developed entire sites on my own and in collaboration with large teams. I have a wide breadth of skills pertaining to the web, among them UI design, information architecture and visual design. I am also well versed in best practices for coding to meet web standards and accessibility guidelines.

Graduated in May of 1997 with a BFA in Design from the University of Texas at Austin.
Professional Experience
September 2007 – present
Hoover’s Inc., Senior User Interaction Designer
Currently working with product managers, developers and Hoover’s internal creative team on a complete redesign of the company’s site, within the Agile process. Deliverables largely include wire-frames, but also can include visual design comps and HTML/CSS mock-ups. I currently do not have wireframes available on my portfolio site, but they can be posted on request.

Working with multidisciplinary teams to create compelling online user interactions. Duties included using competitive data, user research and business requirements to create concepts for innovative online experiences. Deliverables included process flows, site maps, wire frames, and heuristic analyses.

SmartPrice.com, Lead Designer
SmartPrice.com’s goals include helping consumers and small businesses make smart choices about choosing calling plans. Responsibilities included working with the head of marketing, the brand manager, and the web site manager to establish, architect and implement creative strategies for the company. This included creating print pieces as well as serving as information architect, designer and front end developer for the SmartPrice.com web site.
June 1999 – July 2000
Powered Inc. (formerly notHarvard.com), Lead Designer
Duties included working with a small team of developers and designers to, concept, design and implement the system by which the Powered Inc. provides online educational environments for it’s clients. Acted as lead and manager for an eleven member design team which created everything from trade show booths to the visual design of Powered’s client sites. Other duties included working with the various departments within the company to create the company’s brand (which included designing the notHarvard.com logo, business cards and corporate site).
August 1998 – June 1999
frog design, Designer, Level II
frog design is a thirty year old multidisciplinary design firm with offices in the United States and Germany. Duties at frog included being involved at various stages of designing and building web sites for frog’s clients. Sites worked on include Hoovers Online, a site which hosts information on both public and private companies, and MicronPC, a direct sales computer manufacturer. Involvement in the Hoovers included conceptualizing of the features of the site, as well as working with the design lead to create comps for the look and feel. The MicronPC redesign project involved rethinking much of their site, implementing a new visual design, and assisting MicronPC in the maintenance of the site.

Worked freelance doing web site design and programming for companies such as Dell, frog design and Cornerstone Securities along with working on a bid to redo the Austin Convention Center’s web site.

Power Computing, Web Designer
Power Computing was the first and best known Macintosh computer clone manufacturer and seller. Employed by Power Computing as the in-house designer for the Power Computing web site. Duties included working with developers and marketing executives to design, maintain and further develop the site. During my employment at Power Computing the web site routinely generated more than million dollars a week in sales.

ShokT Internet Productions, Web Designer
Worked as a contractor for ShokT Internet Productions. ShokT was a web site development company that also held seminars for educators on how to use the web effectively.

Nexa Digital Industries, Web Designer
Nexa owned WebEdge, the Macintosh web developers conference, and VersaCom, a company devoted to marketing online presences to associations. Work done for Nexa included both production and design for many of their clients’ sites, which included The Grow Zone, a horticulture resource site, and the Apple Computer, Latin American site.
